18th Annual Kū Mai Ka Hula
Powerful & Moving
The 18th Annual Kū Mai Ka Hula competition was a spectacular two-day event featuring halau from Hawaiʻi, the continental U.S. and Japan. Adult soloists and groups competited in kahiko (traditional) and ‘auana (modern) hula performances that were beautiful, powerful and breathtaking.

Ledcor Maui returned as Ka Wēkiu sponsor of Kū Mai Ka Hula and is proud to support hula and community led organizations such as Kauahea Inc., the organizers of this competition.

Naomi Glass, of the Ledcor Maui team, had the great honor to be a part of the award presentation of the Mele Aloha Award for the winner of Ms. Hula Maui, Cierra Mei-Ling Hau. Cierra danced twice in the solo competition; once a kahiko performance of Wehi Rose No Ka Lani and an ‘auana performance of ‘Auana Paukukalo. Ms. Hula Maui Cierra Mei-Ling Hau is an ōlapa with the Hālau o Ka Hanu Lehua under the direction of Kumu Hula Kamaka Kukona.
Kū Mai Ka Hula is Maui’s premier adult hula competition that occurs annually in September. If you missed this year’s competition, be sure to mark your calendars for next year as this is an event you don’t want to miss!
