Ledcor Donates Locally to Commemorate 75th Anniversary
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Ledcor Group of Companies, Ledcor Maui has donated a total of $22,000 to local organizations who work with Maui keiki. In February 2023, Boys & Clubs of Maui, Friends of the Children’s Justice Center, and Maui Youth & Family Services each received a check from Ledcor to help strengthen their essential programs.
“We selected these three Maui organizations because of their missions and dedication to supporting children’s health and mental wellness,” said Eric Gerlach, Senior Vice President of Ledcor Maui. “These three groups all have boots on the ground working directly with our youth, who are our future.”
Ledcor Maui staff visited the offices of each organization and learned about the imminent needs of some of the youngest members of our community – including the essentials that are often taken for granted: a safe home, enough food to eat, clean clothes and parental guidance.
“It was a humbling reminder, as a company that is in the business of building communities, that a community is only sustainable if the next generation is taken care of” Gerlach said. “On behalf of Ledcor, we want to thank these organizations and their staff for their care and dedication to the many children whose lives they impact.”
November 7, 2022 marked Ledcor’s 75th anniversary. In honor of this milestone, Ledcor announced a $3 million donation over four years – $750,000 a year – to support charities and organizations that focus on pediatric healthcare initiatives across Ledcor office locations in the U.S. and Canada.
Ledcor’s story began in 1947 when founder Bill Lede borrowed $5,000 on a handshake to buy Leduc Construction’s first piece of equipment, an HD-14 Allis Chalmers bulldozer. Bill’s vision, integrity, strong work ethic, commitment to safety, and spirit of innovation remain the foundation of Ledcor – now one of the most diversified construction companies in North America.
While today’s Ledcor is a very different kind of company than the one Bill started decades ago, Bill’s values remain a part of everything Ledcor does.
