Ledcor Maui Completes
Reef Friendly Landscaping Course
Naomi Glass, a member of our Ledcor Maui team, recently completed a Reef Friendly Landscaping Course through Maui Nui Marine Resource Council. Maui Nui Marine Resource Council, a non-profit organization, dedicated to protecting our ocean and reefs created this certification program to educate and empower residents, landscapers and landowners to employ land management practices that reduce negative impacts on coral reefs.
The Reef Friendly Landscaping Course included 10 subjects from soil health to native plants to lawn alternatives. Taught by a range of local experts in sustainable land management, the course gave a comprehensive overview of land practices that can benefit our local reefs.
“I was very impressed with the depth of content offered in this course. It was both informative and encouraging to know that this resource is out there for our community,” says Naomi Glass. “The understanding that protecting our reefs is directly related to what is happening on land was fundamental for me and I am excited to share what I learned as we plan for future landscaping and homeowner education.”
This on-line course is available for anyone who would like to take it. Visit Maui Reefs to learn more: https://www.mauireefs.org/rfl/
The Laʻi Loa Garden Corner located at the corner of Wailea Alanui and Okolani Drive features all native and canoe plants.
