Remembering & Honoring
Wayne "Vene" Chun
It is with a heavy heart that we share Wayne ‘Vene’ Chun has passed away.
Vene was a pillar of the Maui community whose dedication to Hawaiian practices, culture, values, family and helping others has touched the lives of countless individuals. Vene was a graduate of Kamehameha Schools class of ’87 studies in Hawaiian Culture & Language, immersed in outrigger, sailing, & voyaging canoes. He lived an active and engaged life as an actor, restoration volunteer and advocate. Vene was devoted to his ‘ohana as a husband and father of two, who survive him.
Vene was a beloved person for the Laʻi Loa community in Wailea. Vene led the blessing and opening of the Amenity Center and blessed individual homeowners homes, forever sharing his presence and aloha with the community. He will be greatly missed by many of us.
Donations to Vene’s ‘ohana and to help with funeral expenses are being accepted via Go Fund Me.
“Kuleana chose Vene. He will live on forever because his lessons are timeless. Even though we will miss him in the physical world, we rejoice for him in the spiritual world,” Clifford Nae’ole.
