Ledcor Maui Embracing
Cultural Resource Management
Cultural resource management is a critical component of responsible land stewardship in Hawaiʻi, especially when it comes to projects that may intersect with historical or sacred sites. Ledcor Maui works with local nonprofit organizations, like Aina Momona, to support these groups in their ongoing care for cultural resources. Aina Momona’s staff will have the opportunity to engage with CRM experts from Aina Archaeology, learning methods and techniques that protect cultural resources.
Throughout the training, the importance of collaboration between local communities, landowners, and cultural practitioners will be underscored. The Aina Momona team will discuss ways to incorporate traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) into contemporary CRM practices, which can enhance efforts to preserve not only archaeological sites but also the cultural narratives that give these places meaning.
A Continued Commitment to Preservation
This immersive experience is more than just a learning opportunity—it is a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to preserving Hawai‘i’s cultural and environmental heritage. Ledcor Maui is proud to support Aina Momona’s efforts, and we look forward to continued collaboration on projects that prioritize the protection of our cultural resources.
“At Ledcor Maui, we believe that thoughtful development and cultural preservation go hand in hand,” says Eric Gerlach, Senior Vice President for Ledcor Maui. “By working with organizations like Aina Momona, we can ensure that future generations inherit not only the physical landscapes of Hawai‘i but also the rich traditions and history that make these islands so special.”
