Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea Opens The Queen’s Garden
Honoring Hawaiʻi’s Beloved Last Monarch
In a meaningful tribute to Hawaiian history, culture, and resilience, Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea unveiled The Queen’s Garden, Uluhaimalama, an immersive garden sanctuary dedicated to Queen Liliʻuokalani, the last reigning monarch of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi. The gardens have been named ‘Uluhaimalama’ in honor of the historic royal flower garden established by Queen Liliʻuokalani in Pauoa Valley, Oʻahu, on October 11, 1894.
Nestled within the resort’s oceanfront grounds The Queen’s Garden is a living cultural space designed to honor Queen Liliʻuokalani’s enduring contributions to Hawaiian identity, language, music, and the spirit of aloha.
Queen Liliʻuokalani remains one of Hawaiʻi’s most admired historical figures. Remembered for her strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her people, she led with grace during one of the most challenging periods in Hawaiian history. Her legacy is reflected not only in her leadership but also in her commitment to preserving Hawaiian culture and traditions. Queen Liliʻuokalani was a great composer who had an avid love of gardening and flowers. In creating this garden area, Four Seasons Resort Maui seeks to create a space where visitors can learn about and appreciate her remarkable life and influence.
““The Queen’s Garden is an opportunity to celebrate a leader whose legacy continues to resonate throughout Hawaiʻi and around the world,” said Aunty Mopsie Tuivaioge.”
By dedicating this space to Queen Liliʻuokalani, the resort reinforces its commitment to honoring the host culture and creating meaningful experiences rooted in authentic Hawaiian values. Through The Queen’s Garden, Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea has created more than a destination; it has established a lasting tribute to Queen Liliʻuokalani and a meaningful expression of respect for the cultural heritage of Hawaiʻi.
