Ledcor Maui to Sponsor
2023 Kū Mai Ka Hula
For all of us at Ledcor Maui thereʻs nothing more important than the preservation and perpetuation of culture. As residents of Maui, we understand our kuleana is to support Hawaiian culture in as many ways as possible. One of our top areas of focus is hula. We are honored to partner with Hōkūlani Holt and Kauahea Inc. as the Ka Wēkiu sponsor for the 16th Annual Kū Mai Ka Hula competition for the second time.
“Hula is Life” is a phrase shared by Kumu Hula Hōkūlani Holt. For Hōkūlani, “Hula is Life” means more than “Hula is what I do.” It means “Hula is who I am.”
Scheduled on September 9th at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, this is one of Mauiʻs most beloved events. It brings together kumu hula (hula teachers) and their haumana (students) from Maui, Kauaʻi and Japan, competing in both kahiko (traditional) and ‘auana (modern) hula stylings.
We hope you will join us for a fun, educational and authentic experience centered around hula that shares the joy and beauty of this deeply Hawaiian art form.
