Kōkua for Maui -

How to assist with impacts of wildfires

As many of you have seen on the news or in person, our island of Maui has been severely impacted by the wildfires caused in part by the high winds from passing Hurricane Dora. While official numbers are changing daily, we know the damage is massive given the videos and photos shown on the news and across social media platforms in the last 48 hours. Our hearts are heavy knowing too many families and fellow businesses have lost everything. It is heart-wrenching to see historic Front Street Lahaina and the majestic Upcountry region blackened by the wildfires.

We wait patiently as families find shelter in emergency facilities or at their families and friends homes, and we pray workers are able to perform their duties safely and efficiently. We know they are working under harsh conditions and long hours. We want to thank the many community members who have stepped in to volunteer and assist during these trying times.

In response to how you can help, we have compiled a list of organizations who are providing much needed services. Meanwhile, know that Ledcor Maui is working with our construction partners on ways to lend our support on the ground with our human and business resources.

Maui Strong Fund
Created by the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation (HCF) to provide resources for disaster preparedness, response and recovery, the Maui Strong Fund is currently being used to help aid communities affected by the Maui Wildfires. You can donate online at its website or you can send a check to Hawai‘i Community Foundation, 827 Fort Street Mall, Honolulu, HI, 96813. Make checks payable “Hawai‘i Community Foundation”. Donate online

Hawaiian Way Fund
The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA) is partnering with Kamehameha Schools, Alakaʻina Foundation Family of Companies and Kākoʻo ʻo Haleakala to match up to $1,000,000 in community donations for ʻohana impacted by the devastating wildfires on Maui. Your generosity will not only help them rebuild, but also show the strength of our unity and aloha spirit.  Proceeds will go Maui organizations to support relief efforts. Donate online

The Salvation Army
Providing food and resources to those in need, The Salvation Army is accepting Maui donations on its Hawaiʻi site, Donate here

Maui United Way
Maui United Way has set up a Maui fire relief fund that will go directly to support Maui fire victims. Donate here.

Maui Humane Society
Unfortunately, it’s not just people affected by the fires, but pets too. The Maui Humane Society is asking for emergency foster homes for its animals to help make space for new displaced pets. Pet supplies, like wet and dry food, litter and pop-up kennels are also in need, and you can always donate funds on its website, Donate here

Hawaiʻi Red Cross
A leader in disaster relief, the Hawaiʻi Red Cross is providing assistance and shelter to Maui fire victims and you can support them by Donate here.

Maui Food Bank
The Maui Food Bank is accepting both  physical drop-off donations at various locations across Maui as well as online monetary donations on its website, Donate here
