Ho‘omau 2026:

Another Year of Community Support for ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i

On March 28, 2026 thousands of community members gathered at Maui Nui Botanical Gardens for Nā Leo Pūlama o Maui’s 39th Annual Hoʻomau. Ho‘omau is an annual cultural event that raises critical funds for Pūnana Leo O Maui, a Hawaiian language immersion school. Organized by parent volunteers that make up Nā Leo Pūlama o Maui, this incredible event featured live music, cultural displays, educational activities, ono food and a collection of talented local artisans and vendors.

The theme of Hoʻomau was:

“E hūna i ka ʻupena i ka moana a e loaʻa ka ʻai no ka ʻohana”

This saying recognizes the improtant of fishing nets for feeding oneʻs family. It also reminds us that through quiet labor, humility and collective work, each action big or small, is an integral part of the net in sustaining ʻohana and community.

“Hōʻomau 2026 was a success as the children, teachers, parents, artisans, community members and local businesses joined hands in their effort to ensure that the culture of Hawaii would be preserved,” says Clifford Nae’ole, Cultural Advisor to Ledcor Maui. “The day was a continued barrage of music and dancers on stage as the audience sampled the flavor of the local foods.  It was indeed a pleasure to see many gather together to ensure the preservation of ‘ōlelo Hawaiʻi and that Ledcor was a Kiwikiu sponsor.  See you all in 2027!!!”

As a Kiwikiu sponsor, Ledcor Maui is proud to continue their support for Ho‘omau over the last three years! Ledcor Mauiʻs commitment to supporting local organizations such as Nā Leo Pūlama o Maui aligns with its ongoing efforts to invest in education, sustainability, cultural preservation and the perpetuation of ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i.
